How to play
Filling in numbers
Tap a number under the board to pick it up: every square holding that number lights up in highlighter. Then tap empty squares to write it in, one tap each. Tap a printed number to pick that one up instead, or tap the picked-up number again to put it down.
Prefer to tap a square first and then a number? Switch in Settings → Filling in. The walkthrough is always in Settings → How to play.
Notes, clashes and hints
Turn on Notes to pencil in possibilities. If a number appears twice in the same row, column or box, it’s flagged in red pen straight away. You can turn that off in Settings. A hint always tells you why its number fits, not just what it is.
Check vs. showing mistakes straight away
Check is a free, on-demand look at any wrong numbers on the board. Show mistakes straight away (off by default) marks a wrong number the moment you write it and counts it towards your mistake limit.

How does the daily puzzle work?
Everyone gets the same puzzle each day. It’s made on your device from the date, so no server is involved. The difficulty changes through the week: Easy on Monday, Medium on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, Hard on Thursday and Saturday, and Expert on Sunday. Solve it to keep your streak going; the calendar in Stats shows every day you’ve solved.
Can I continue a game on another device?
Yes. When you’re signed in to iCloud, your settings, stats and games in progress sync between your iPhone and iPad. A game is saved to iCloud when you leave it or switch apps. Nothing is sent to us; see the Privacy Policy.
Is there a widget?
Yes. Add the Paper Sudoku widget to your Home Screen to see today’s puzzle and your streak. Tap it to jump straight in.
Leaderboards
Sign in to Game Center (in the Settings app) to post your daily-puzzle times and total puzzles solved, then open Stats → Leaderboards.
Paper Sudoku Pro
Every puzzle comes with three free hints. After that you can watch a short ad for another, or unlock Pro once for unlimited hints and no ads. Already bought it on another device? Tap Restore in Settings.
Languages
Paper Sudoku is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese, and follows your device’s language.
